OUR STORY

Moksha School of Dance and Yoga which began in 2023, is the brainchild of years of commitment, practice and artistic expression to rediscover the power of movement from within one’s self. More than an institution of learning, Moksha aspires to be a revolution in dance and movement that aims to break rigid structures of form and creative barriers so that the innate flow, rhythm and human expression is put in the forefront.

At Moksha, we are devoted to nurture talent that we believe is unique to every individual, to

grow in them a rooted passion for Indian traditional dance and movement techniques, inculcating discipline that celebrates a unique flow, different to every person.

Focussing on traditional Indian dance forms like Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam, Moksha handholds a learner to explore the art form in its entirety and trains a dancer to bring alive the experience of heritage storytelling blending with it, modern day themes, that need to be told. Which means that, we retain the tradition of the dance form as it is, but in the process, ensure that we remain relevant in today’s world.

Moksha also wraps itself proudly around the tides of the thriving Bollywood dance form keeping up with the ever evolving trends, with just one rule in mind - that everybody has fun.

We at Moksha find our footing from the ancient techniques of Yoga practice that bridges the mind with the body that we believe is essential when you’re on a holistic journey to meet the better version of yourself. On the other side, we promise is a home your body will love to be.

About
RLV Anne Therese Shajan

Anne Therese Shajan the Founder, Artistic Director and head trainer at her classical Indian dance and yoga school began her journey of movement through dance from the age of five.

A devoted dancer, she gained her primary training and rigorous practice under the guidance of veterans in their respective classical forms- from Kalamandalam Anuradha for Bharatanatyam and further education from Dr. Neena Prasad and Thomas Vo Van Tao for Mohiniyattam and has performed in multiple stages across India and Germany.

She found her calling in life when she realised that more than a passionate hobby, dance is an expression of her existence and a way of life, where she trusts it to be a medium to release emotions stored within the body and allows it to liberate itself in a way nothing else can. This paved way for her to pursue her Master of Arts in Mohiniyattam from the reputed R.L.V.College Of Music And Fine Arts in Kerala, India.

Anne’s interests are also spread across exploring other art forms and movement practices that got her to complete the 400 hour level hour Yoga Teachers Training Certificate under the International Athma Yoga Academy and Rishikesh Yoga Association which has begun her journey as a Yoga practitioner and trainer.

From Kerala to Germany, Anne focuses on creating a community that celebrates art and to influence lives through dance and yoga. Her daily practice and devotion to the art forms are a clear indicator of the grounding she withholds within herself to be a constant learner and an exceptional teacher of her craft.
